They were famous for their longships and sailed all over Europe, reaching places like Greenland and North America. The Vikings were known for exploring, trading, and sometimes raiding other lands. They had a big impact on the history and culture of Europe during the Viking Age.
And even though they are usually brave and well-prepared people, that doesn't mean that they too can't find themselves in some kind of trouble. Right now, the Vikings are in big trouble. The message that was brought to them by the king's messenger and that contained the plans for the next battle disappeared.
